China Exported 507,000 Trucks from Jan.-Sept., Up 21% YoY

From January to September 2023, a total of 507,000 trucks were exported, up 21 percent year-on-year.

 
Light trucks experienced the highest growth with respect to the same period. In September alone, the exports of light trucks reached 28,000 units or 50.9 per cent of the total export volume. From January to September, a total of 240,000 units of light trucks were exported, representing 47.3% of the total export volume. 
 
In September and January-September, the export volume of tractor trucks reached 13,000 units and 116,000 units respectively, accounting for 23.6% and 23.88% of the total export volume.
 
In September and January-September, China's heavy-duty truck exports were 8,000 units and 94,000 units respectively, accounting for 14.5 per cent and 18.5 per cent of the total exports.
 
In September, exports of petrol trucks reached 12,820 units, up -2 per cent year-on-year, the largest increase of any type of truck.
 
In January-September, exports of electric trucks grew by 189% YoY to a total of 32,681 units. China's exports of diesel, gasoline and hybrid trucks grew by 43 per cent, 12 per cent and -34 per cent respectively.
 
Diesel-powered trucks still maintain the dominant position in the overseas truck market with 38860 and 361321 units exported in September and January to September, accounting for 70.1% and 71.3% of the market share. 
 
Russia was the overwhelming destination for trucks produced in China during September, accounting for 22.6% of exports, followed by Mexico at 7.69% and Chile at 4.62%. Russia ranked first with a 137% year-on-year increase in September, and was the only country among the top 10 to import more than 10,000 trucks from China.

 
Mexico and Chile ranked the second and the third, with exports of 4262 and 2558 units respectively and increase of -28% and -76% year-on-year.
 
The top ten exported a total of 30725 units, accounting for 55.4% of the total, up -4.9% year-on-year.
 
During January to September, Russia is the country with the largest number of trucks imported from China, and the only one to exceed 100,000 units (a 386% jump year-on-year), with a market share of 21.67%. This is something China trucks depend on for a significant increase in Jan.-Sep, 2023.

 
Mexico and Australia ranked the second and the third, with exports of 44522 and 22389 units respectively and increase of 38% and 9% year-on-year.
The top ten exported a total of 283532 units during Jan.-Sep., accounting for 55.94% of the total, up20.1% year-on-year.
