Analysis of Highway Freight in May
www.chinatrucks.com: According to data released by Statistical Bureau, increase of freight volumes from Jan. to April decreases largely compared with the same period last year. Highway freight volumes amounted to 2.25 bn tons in April, up 13.85% over last year, and highway freight turnover in April were 393.863 bn tons km, up 15.9%. From Jan. to April, highway freight volumes amounted to 8.45 bn tons, up 14.3% over last year, and highway freight turnover in April were 1,491.465 bn tons km, up 14.9%.
Freight starts to grow clearly in May

According to statistics by China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing and Huitianxia Information Company, freight price in May increased over that of April, especially less-than-carload freight light goods, recovering to that in March. All complete freight, less-than-carload freight light goods and less-than-carload freight heavy goods index increased. The comprehensive freight index was 60.3 in May, up 1.45 over April, among which, complete vehicle freight price was 72.0, up 1.17 over April, LCL freight heavy goods was 60.0, up 1.16, and LCL freight light goods was 115.5, up 4.30.
Profits of semi-trailer customers grows from Jan. to May

The freight rates almost reached the bottom, and the freight rates in April is comparable to that of March. For a semi-trailer with thirty tons cargo to run for 1,000 km, its freight rate was 0.3 Yuan per ton.km and customers' profits were 9,000 Yuan in Jan.; and the figure were 0.31 Yuan per ton.km and 9,300 Yuan in Feb., 0.299 Yuan per ton.km and 8,970 Yuan in March and April, 0.303 Yuan per ton.km and 9,090 Yuan in May.
Customers' profits increased to some extent in May, up 1.34% over April. However, we still need further observe to see whether customers' profits will continue next month. LCL freight rates will increase in future.
