Test Drives – Experience the Most Advanced Vehicles Up Close at IAA 2024
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024, taking place from September 17 to 22 in Hannover, will once again showcase an impressive array of innovations in commercial vehicle technology. The Test Drives at the event will provide a comprehensive insight into the latest developments driving the transition to zero-emission, efficient, and connected transport solutions.
"IAA TRANSPORTATION is all about experiencing innovation. During the Test Drives, visitors can experience firsthand how advanced the industry is. At IAA TRANSPORTATION, the future is already present. It's clear that the industry has done its homework. Now, the necessary charging infrastructure urgently needs to be established," emphasized Jürgen Mindel, Managing Director of the VDA, underscoring the event's significance as a showcase for the latest developments in transportation.
Vehicles Available for Test Drives
Among the many participating companies, Aurobay is presenting their Power Delivery Unit, a groundbreaking onboard charging solution for battery-electric commercial vehicles (BEVs). This technology significantly increases range and payload. The demonstration vehicle, a light battery-electric commercial vehicle, impressively showcases the benefits of this innovation.
Bosch is showcasing its Demo Truck for Connected Services, a medium-duty truck equipped with the E2E Connectivity solution. This enables data-driven services such as Cloud Diagnostics and Predictive Diagnostics, thereby increasing vehicle efficiency and availability. The vehicle is powered by a high-performance diesel engine.
DAF is expanding its range of electric commercial vehicles with the XB 190 FA (4x2) and the XD 350 FT (4x2). Both vehicles offer impressive ranges of up to 400 km and are designed for urban and interurban use. The focus is on high battery capacity and fast charging capability.
Designwerk, an e-mobility specialist for heavy commercial vehicles, is presenting the new battery-electric Lowliner, the first electric tractor for volume transport with an LFP battery system. The E-Lowliner offers a service life of up to 850,000 kilometers with over 3,000 charging cycles. The ground clearance is identical to that of diesel vehicles, allowing for unrestricted use. With a saddle height starting at 937 mm, the vehicle offers up to 15 percent more loading volume or space for 50 percent more loading units when combined with a Megatrailer.
Ford is showcasing the V710 E-Transit Custom 320 L1 and the V363 E-Transit 350 L2, two fully electric vans that impress with high range and modern features. These vehicles are ideal for urban delivery and set new benchmarks in sustainability and efficiency.
Hyliko is presenting the Hy T44 First Edition 4x2, a tractor with a hydrogen-electric hybrid drive. This truck offers an emission-free alternative for heavy-duty transport and demonstrates the potential of hydrogen technology in commercial transport.
IVECO is also showcasing its multi-drive strategy during the test drives, featuring a total of 13 vehicles with various powertrain concepts. In addition to locally emission-free vehicles, such as the new electric light commercial vehicle developed in collaboration with Hyundai and the new S-eWay chassis, a wide range of light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicles with other alternative drives will be available.
MAN is showcasing a wide range of innovative drives, including the TGX 18.449 4x2 BEV and the TGX 28.580 6x2=2 with a hydrogen combustion engine (H2 ICE). These models combine high performance with sustainability and offer future-proof solutions for long-haul transport.
MAXUS is presenting the eDELIVER 5 and eDELIVER 7, two electric commercial vehicles that impress with their versatility and high efficiency. These vehicles are suitable for both urban and rural use, offering businesses a sustainable transport solution.
Phinia is showcasing a demonstration vehicle based on the Peugeot BOXER, equipped with a 2.2-liter engine converted to hydrogen direct injection. This vehicle combines high towing capacity with a range of up to 500 km, showcasing the potential of hydrogen as an alternative fuel.
Quantron is presenting the QUANTRON QLI FCEV, a hydrogen-electric vehicle with a range of up to 450 km. This model is particularly suitable for urban and interregional supply chains, offering an emission-free alternative to conventional drives.
Scania is showcasing, among other vehicles, the Scania Gas Truck CBG 460 R and the fully electric Scania BEV 45 R, both of which impress with innovative technology and high performance. These vehicles offer solutions for various transport requirements and underscore Scania's commitment to sustainable mobility.
Tesla is presenting the Tesla Semi, a fully electric truck with a range of up to 800 km. With the Semi Truck, Tesla presents its plan for a future of zero-emission transport.
Trailer Dynamics is showcasing their innovative eTrailer D600, which is compatible with both diesel and electric tractors. These eTrailers offer additional electric drive support and significantly increase the range of BEV tractors.
Volkswagen is showcasing various versions of the ID. BUZZ, including the ID. BUZZ Pro and the ID. BUZZ Cargo. These fully electric vehicles combine cutting-edge technology with innovative design and are suitable for a wide range of transportation tasks.
Volta Trucks is presenting the Volta Zero, the world's first purpose-built 16/18-ton electric truck, offering a range of 283 km. This vehicle revolutionizes inner-city distribution and sets new standards for efficiency and driving comfort.
Volvo is showcasing an impressive range of electric commercial vehicles, including the Volvo FH Aero Electric and the Volvo FM Low Entry, both of which impress with their high ranges and energy efficiency. These vehicles are specifically optimized for urban and interurban transport.
Windrose is presenting the Windrose 6x4 EV and the Windrose 4x2 EV, two long-haul trucks with a range of 670 km and a peak power of over 1,000 kW.
Additionally, Daimler Truck offers test drives directly from their stand in Hall 19/20.
