Yuchai Opens Its First Overseas Factory in Thailand
On August 20, 2024, Yuchai Power Systems (Thailand) Co., Ltd. celebrated the grand opening of its first overseas factory in Bang Pakong, Thailand. This marks a big step for Yuchai’s international expansion and is a key milestone in its strategy to grow in global markets, especially in Southeast Asia.
The opening ceremony was attended by many important guests, including Xie Jieren, Vice Chairman of Chia Tai Group; Dai Hongkai, Vice President of Foton’s Overseas Supply Chain; Luo Ming, Vice President of Wode Group; Zhu Linjun, General Manager of Wode Agriculture Machinery; Li Hui, Chairman of SANY (Thailand); Gan Mengfei, General Manager of Zoomlion (Thailand); and Xiang Dongsheng, General Manager for Asia-Pacific at LiuGong. Yuchai’s Chairman Li Hanyang and President Wu Qiwei were also there to mark this historic event.
The new factory will produce diesel engines, natural gas engines, and new energy products. The first products to roll off the line include the K08, S06, and S04 series. The factory plans to ramp up production to 30,000 units per year, covering Yuchai’s engine ranges from 2 to 11 liters.
Yuchai has been exporting to Southeast Asia since the early 1960s and is one of China’s first engine exporters. Over the last fifty years, the company has rapidly expanded internationally. In the past decade, thanks to China’s cooperation with ASEAN countries, Yuchai has become a leader in the ASEAN market, growing exports from 400 units in 2004 to over 20,000 units annually. The company now operates 21 overseas offices and 495 service agents worldwide, with over 680,000 units in use.
Looking ahead, Yuchai sees the Thailand factory as a crucial part of its global strategy. The company plans to boost cooperation with partners like Foton, enhance product competitiveness, and expand its presence in Southeast Asia. Li Hanyang emphasized that the new factory represents Yuchai’s goals and business values. The company is committed to its “1235” strategy, which aims to sell 1 million engines annually and become a leading global power systems provider. Yuchai will invest in the factory in three phases, ultimately expanding its production capacity to over 50,000 units per year to support growth in Southeast Asia and ensure customer success.
