Sany Inks Deal with SGP for the Supply of 80 Electric Container Trucks
On June 25th, a landmark agreement was reached between Saudi Global Ports (SGP), a joint venture of PSA International, and Sany Marine, a subsidiary of SANY Heavy Industry, for the procurement of 80 electric terminal tractors. According to Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), this deal represents the largest single order of electric terminal tractors worldwide.
The signing ceremony, attended by Mr. Rayan AlBakri, Deputy Minister of Transport for Saudi Arabia, Edward Tah, CEO of SGP, Fu Weizhong, Chairman of Sany Marine, and Tang Weibin, General Manager of Overseas Marketing at Sany, marked a significant step towards enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of PSA-operated ports.
SGP, a collaboration between PSA, PIF, and Al Blagha Group, aims to accelerate the modernization and low-carbon development of PSA's port facilities, transforming them into agile, sustainable logistics centers. In alignment with Saudi Arabia's "2030 Vision" for sustainable development, Sany Marine's electric terminal tractors will play a crucial role in mitigating climate change impacts.
Earlier this year, SANY Heavy Industry delivered 50 dump trucks to Saudi Arabia. Along with over 1,700 SANY Heavy Industry equipment deployed at the NEOM construction site, these vehicles mark a significant contribution to the region's development.
Since their partnership began in 2013, SGP and Sany Marine have collaborated for 12 years, delivering approximately 50 mobile port equipment and 6 RTGs (Rubber-Tired Gantry cranes).
This collaboration not only sets a new benchmark in sustainable port operations but also underscores a commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation in global maritime logistics.
