WeRide to Trial Run Its Driveless Road Sweeper in Singapore by End of 2024
On June 20, 2024, WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced a collaboration with Chye Thiam Maintenance (CTM), a renowned sanitation company in Singapore, to advance the commercial deployment of WeRide's autonomous sanitation vehicles ("WeRide Sanitation Vehicles") in Singapore. The initial batch of WeRide Sanitation Vehicles has successfully arrived in Singapore and began safety testing, with plans to start trial run on public road by the end of 2024.
CTM is one of the largest and top-ranked cleaning and waste management companies in Singapore. It maintains strong and longstanding cooperative relationships with the Singapore government, as well as with the entertainment and tourism sectors. As a key participant and leading player in Singapore's sanitation industry, CTM plays a pivotal role in maintaining the city's cleanliness and hygiene standards.

As WeRide's flagship product in smart sanitation scenarios, the WeRide Sanitation Vehicle is equipped with WeRide's proprietary autonomous driving software and hardware architecture. It features multiple high-precision sensors and artificial intelligent algorithms, enabling them to efficiently perform urban sanitation tasks, including road sweeping, water spraying, and disinfection. The vehicle can autonomously detect road conditions, avoid pedestrians and obstacles, ensuring safety and reliability while enhancing cleaning efficiency. Additionally, the WeRide Sanitation Vehicle operates on pure electric drive, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 10,000 kilograms per month on average. This commitment to low-carbon emissions supports Singapore's green transformation in sanitation practices.
The WeRide Sanitation Vehicle has received high praise from Singapore government officials, businesses, and prominent media outlets such as MotherShip, The Straits Times, NewsSWSV, and Ground NEWS.
Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Singapore's Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, expressed confidence on LinkedIn that innovative sanitation technologies could assist cleaning companies in boosting productivity.
Mr. Lim Jo Hann, Senior Vice President (Operations) of CTM, has full confidence in the safety features of the WeRide Sanitation Vehicle. He revealed plans for initial operations in the Marina Bay area once road permits are secured.
The successful deployment in Singapore marks the successful entry of WeRide's smart sanitation business into the international market, expanding its commercial footprint and potential.
