Dongfeng Aims to Increase Its Export Volume to 150,000 Units in 2020
Recently, Dongfeng made an announcement, saying that the company aims to increase its annual export volume to 150,000 units by 2020.
So far, Dongfeng vehicles have made their way to over 80 countries and regions across the globe, with an accumulated export volume of over 800,000 units .
In 2017 alone, the auto maker sold 65,000 units vehicles in the overseas market, up by 55.3% year on year. In 2018, the company aims to sell 80,000 units vehicles in the global market.
As early as 2012, Dongfeng launched its globalization drive. On September 23 that year, Dongfeng acquired T Engineering Company based in Sweden, establishing its first overseas R&D Center.
On March 26, 2014, Dongfeng injected 800 million Euros to France-based PSA, becoming the biggest shareholder of the company. Two days later, the two parties signed an agreement for comprehensive strategic cooperation.
In January 2015, Dongfeng (55% shares) and Volvo (45% shares) together set up a joint venture--- Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., which is specialized in developing, producing and selling a wide range of commercial vehicles.
In Iran, Dongfeng set up its first overseas KD Center, which exported 30,000 units vehicles in 2017. In Russia, Dongfeng established its first overseas Sales Center. In 2016, it purchased a local 4S store, aiming to build its own flagship store. In Vietnam and other ASEAN countries, Dongfeng has been gaining increasing popularity. In 2016, it built its own 4S stores and started selling its passenger vehicles. In Indonesia, Dongfeng and a local company set up a joint venture, which started rolling out mini-trucks this year.
In response to the government’s Belt Road Initiative in recent years, Dongfeng has been strengthening its marketing efforts in many countries across the world. Boasting a wide spectrum of extremely competitive products, it is implementing its 3+3+N Overseas Expansion Plan, featurijng three KD Centers, three Sales Centers and dozens of projects abroad. In the next three years, more customized Dongfeng vehicle products will hit the market, meeting global customers increasing demands. (www.chinatrucks.com)
