2013 Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition China Final Concludes
www.chinatrucks.com: September 2nd 2013, Beijing, China. The hot weather cannot defeat the Fuelwatch players’ passion and spirits. After more than five-month intense competition, the 2013 Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition China Final concluded today. 21 drivers winning in the semi-finals have gathered in Beijing and competed for the China Final champion during Aug 31 to Sep 1. Finally, Jiao Yipin from Defa Logistics was crowned with the best result in fuel consumption of 22.39L/100km. He will represent China to compete in the Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition APAC Final in Australia.

Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition is an important event held worldwide. The purpose is to improve the fuel- saving driving skills of drivers in order to increase the companies’ operation efficiency and profitability. This year’s Fuelwatch Competition is more popular and influential than ever before. Volvo Trucks held the semi-finals in 6 cities in China including Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanning, Urumqi and Beijing. More than 300 drivers have participated in the competition. Nearly 2,000 drivers have joined the 32 Fuelwatch public training courses held in 21 cities.

At the award ceremony, Eric Labat presented the trophy and the flight ticket to Australia to the champion. Jiao Yipin, the China Final champion who has over 10 years driving experience shared his feelings: “Fuel efficiency means a lot in our daily work. This competition makes us realize the importance of safe fuel-saving, and makes me better master the techniques and skills of the driving details. I am very grateful that Volvo Trucks provides us such a good learning platform and also very looking forward to the APAC Competition.”

It is the 5th year since the first Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition held in 2009. National champions of the past four years have been invited to the award ceremony: Zhang Bin (champion of 2009), Qiao Lei (champion of 2010), Peng Chunlei (champion of 2011) and Liu Jinqiang (champion of China and Asia of 2012). They witnessed the glorious course for past five years together and shared the happiness of this year new champion. Besides, the Fuelwatch Ambassador of 2012 – Cui Neng also attended the ceremony. The Fuelwatch Ambassador Selection continued this year at 360che.com. Xu Guangwan, the driver who gained the most support by sharing his fuel-saving experience in an on-air post wined the 2013 Fuelwatch Ambassador. He got 668,000 visits and 1,500 replies by sharing his real driving experience from Changchun to Tibet. Xu Guangwan will go to Australia with 2013 champion Jiao Yipin, the champion of this year and communicate closely with competitors from other countries and experience the truck culture by visiting the APAC Final.
