Volvo to Introduce UD Trucks to Asia
www.chinatrucks.com : As revealed by Volvo Group, as an important part of its promotion policy in Asia, the company will introduce UD branded trucks to Asia in 2013, which could meet needs in growing markets by providing trucks of different configurations based on different platforms.
“Asia has always been a core constituent of Volvo Group’s strategic plan. We aim to increase sales volume in Asia by 50% between 2013 and 2015”, said CEO of the company. To achieve this ambitious goal, they decided to introduce UD branded trucks.
It is learned that the UD branded trucks are specially designed for growing markets, which is a blend of splendid Japanese manufacturing techniques and constant cringes of Volvo. The trucks employ world leading technologies of Volvo, and mix them with low manufacturing costs.
This newly launched brand will firstly serve the Asian markets. by far, Volvo has set up a whole manufacturing system in Thailand, India and China. The company expects to greatly increase manufacturing capability in above mentioned countries.
UD, established in 1935, was formerly Nissan Diesel, who became a part of Volvo Group in 2007, and later changed its name to UD trucks in 2010. The brand now sees its manufacturing plants majorly in Japan.
In 2013, Volvo signed strategic agreement with DFAC, the biggest heavy duty truck maker in China. The two sides vowed to jointly set up a company with 45% of shares owned by Volvo. The deal shows Volvo’s determination in exploring Asian markets.
