High End Trucks Market is Booming
www.chinatrucks.com : In recent years, the trend of upgrading products to high end has been more and more visible in Chinese truck industry. As estimated, more than 10% of trucks will be high end ones by the year 2020.
To better suit to the trend, many truck makers have adopted some measures. For now, the major players in high end truck market are foreign companies. And they aim to gain even more shares in the ever expanding market.
As the development of transportation industry in China, heavy duty trucks are playing a more and more important role for their ability to carry more goods. Also, in the mining industry, heavy duty trucks are becoming more and more favored.
Time flows, the market of high end trucks is occupied by giants of Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, Man and the likes. Among them, Mercedes-Benz together with Volvo are responsible for 80% of shares, with the rest being split by Man, Scania and some Japanese, Korean firms.
The operating officer of Scania estimates the need for high end trucks will increase dramatically in the following years. And Scania is ready for this trend.
The authority revealed that the sales number of high end trucks in 2012 was 10000. Although the market is not a big one for the moment, all major competitors still invest heavily.
Scania plans to launch EURO IV products in this year as well as expanding the service network into the hinterland of the country. While, FIAT wishes to take 20%-30% of the market, which stands at 16000 in 2016.
Mercedes-Benz, the most powerful player, is expanding at the fastest speed. Besides, the company plans to introduce buses into China as well.
Just as the operating officer of Scania said, the future of high end trucks is in China.
