IVECO Localised for Chinese Customers
www.chinatrucks.com : A company with comprehensive product range, advanced technologies and outstanding manufacturing skills, IVECO has set up a commercial vehicle sales company in China, speeding up the process of localization.
At the 15th Auto Shanghai, IVECO exhibited the whole range of products, which includes Europe-based products as well as local-developed products, a move that shows the three strategies of the company, namely importing, exporting and localization. IVECO, aiming at high end market, exhibited one truck that was based on the technology of Europe, but added with modification and localization works.
Around 1100 heavy duty trucks manufactured by the joint venture have been exported by the end of 2012. Also, the joint venture has already gained the core technologies, so, they do not only simply manufacture Europe-developed trucks, but also locally-develop trucks. Nanjing IVECO has made major updates in the power chain, engine, interior and exterior appearances.
It is now a trend for foreign vehicle makers to deepen cooperation with their local Chinese partners. IVECO, the vehicle maker that came to China the earliest, has something to say. Wang, the president, said, IVECO has suffered some difficulties since came to China, but ,also has made great achievement. He suggest other vechicle makers to learn the true needs of Chinese customers, and then co-develop technologies with their local partners. He also wish all the joint ventures between foreign vechile makers and Chinese vehicle makers could export more and more vehicles in the future.
Over the past one year, all the major truck makers have been making modifications to the existing products as well as updating technologies in order to meet the requirement of the China IV standards. Wang thinks this is a good thing, because the new standards help changing the current situation whre the competition is only with prices. All the truck makers are now focused on the upgrading of technologies.
IVECO is fully prepared for the coming new standards, as Wang said, and the new standards is actually favorable for IVECO, because IVECO has the capability to develop products with even higher standards. And they already have products that could meet China IV, so, all IVECO needs to do is carry out localization works to the existing products.
