At the same time, a Volvo Trucks delivery ceremony was held. Till now, North-South Express owns 17 Volvo Trucks, including Volvo FH and Volvo FM, mainly used for 1000-3000 km intercity or interprovincial transport.

“Logistics Supermarket” is a new business model aimed to establish an integrated logistics resource platform in Anhui province to link Pearl River Delta, North China and South China area. Unlike other logistics parks, North-South Express “Logistics Supermarket” will independently operate the interprovincial transport and act as new model of highly efficient and standardized logistics operation in Anhui. It will integrate and select the local small-sized logistics companies for intercity business and set partnerships with trans-provincial logistics corporations to realize long distance transport and intercity delivery. “North-South Express ‘Logistics Supermarket’ project marks the transform of Anhui logistics enterprise from fragmented logistics to integrated logistics. We make our effort to explore innovative business model and aim to set firm foundation for integration of logistics technology and resources. We hope North-South Express could become a pathfinder in China’s logistics industry.” says Mr. Fang Zhengui, the President and GM of North-South Express.
North-South Express was founded 10 years ago and has cooperated with Volvo Trucks as their only imported transport equipment supplier for more than 6 years. Concerning the slimmer profits and roaring oil price, Mr. Fang says: “There is still gap between logistics corporations in China and developed countries. Our way to survive in this low freight price market is to optimize our operation mode and cut down on unnecessary cost. For example, keeping the fleet in economic speed for fuel efficiency, using dumping trailers to save transshipment time, and increasing the vehicle operation rate, are very important factors. Considering all of these factors, we choose Volvo Trucks as our logistics equipment for interprovincial transport.” The service philosophy of North-South Express is “Guaranteed time, Fast speed, and Standardized service”. With the convoy of Volvo Trucks, it could fulfill the commitment thoroughly.
The new trucks on the delivery ceremony are Volvo FM440, which enjoys global reputation for its “Strong and Durable”. Volvo FM series stands out because of strong power and fuel economy. Integrated control of the wheel brakes and auxiliary brakes - exhaust brake VEB (Volvo Engine Brake) retarder - boosts both safety and productivity. I-Shift, a 12-speed gearbox with electronically controlled shifting system, could ensure the most optimized speed and therefore control the fuel consumption. Apart from above, the comfy cab with best safety guarantee, advanced EBS (Electronically controlled Brake System) and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) technology, and environmental driveline are all favored by numbers of logistics and transportation firms.

“We feel excited that Volvo Trucks could join hands with North-South Express to set example for logistics industry in Anhui. We are devoted to provide safe, efficient and reliable service for our customers. And we hope our customers could also feel the strong support brought by Volvo Trucks. Under Volvo Trucks total transport solution and over-round service agreements in the future, we could convoy our partner to new business peak.” says Mr. Hu Ping, the GM of Volvo Trucks East China.
As one of the Top 10 logistics corporation in Anhui, North-South Express is strictly careful when they are choosing the logistics equipment suppliers. Volvo Trucks has won their recognition and reliance for many years. On the ”One Million Kilometers without Overhaul” customer list unveiled by Volvo Trucks in 2011, North-South Express hit the record of close to 2.1 million kilometers. The record-breaking truck is Volvo FH12 purchased by North-South Express in 2006. And it is known that the record number will reach 2.38 million kilometers in 2012. Volvo Trucks will collect the road condition info, fuel consumption data, and operation cost numbers to analyze for North-South Express, in order to provide comprehensive after-sales service and transport solutions.
“We should not compete for freight price in nowadays logistics industry, but rely on corporate reform and innovation.” Mr. Fang points out:” The ’Logistics Supermarket’ project of North-South Express is an innovative model. We have mature channels, standardized operation modes, and highly qualified team work with scientific management. The old saying goes, when water flows, then a channel is formed. In my opinion, we build channels first and then introduce water. Our strength is our vehicle utilization. After the resource integration, vehicles are selected by good category and realize drop and pull transport nationally. At the same time, I feel confident with the strong support and fuel efficiency guarantee from our partner Volvo Trucks. We could make something new and outstanding in the future.”
