China to Tighten Emission Standards
www.chinatrucks.com: Starting on January 1, 2013, all gasoline powered vehicles manufactured in, exported to or sold in China will be required to comply with the new National V Emission Standards, according to an announcement made by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) issued on December 5, 2012.
Manufacturers must issue reports on all their vehicles which will be examined by the government. The MEP will issue certificates to vehicles that have passed testing. Manufacturers should also ensure that their production sites, automobiles and auto parts are up to par.
The MEP will take extra measures to ensure that periodic inspection should be done to the highest standard. If vehicles inspected fail to meet standards, manufacturers should remedy any issues within a time limit. If they are still not qualified after that, their sales license will be revoked.
The MEP said that its regional departments would strictly enforce emission standards.
