Volvo Trucks’ Solutions Help Establish A Leading Logistics System for Hanas LNG Plant

In the 12th Five-Year Plan, as the strongest strategic roadmap, fostering the development of LNG will benefit optimizing the structure of energy industry, as well as saving energy and reducing carbon emissions as new energy becomes an emerging strategic industry. The Hanas LNG plant will provide assurance to creating an energy structure of frugality and environmental conservation, easing the contradiction between supply and demand, as well as improving investment environment, habitant environment, and the quality of life. In addition to ensure the supply of LNG to Ningxia and surrounding areas, the rest of Hanas’ LNG outputs are supplied to The Bohai Sea, Middle China, and other areas that are in great demand of natural gas. The Hanas LNG project will no doubtly bring positive impact to the quality of life in Ningxia and its surrounding areas, as well as other cities, and the highly performed Volvo FM400 will be responsible for transporting its LNG to areas with tough transport conditions.

According to the International Energy Agency, the global needs of natural gas will reach 5,100 billion cubic meters, accounting for ¼ of the world’s total energy needs, among which China will in need of 46 million tons. In planning of the 12th Five-Year Plan, China will use 260 billion cubic meters natural gas and its proportion of energy consumption will rise to 8% from the current 4%. In the application of clean energy, Hanas LNG project will play a significant role in shifting regional energy structure and increasing the proportion of new energy of all energies in China. Hanas New Energy Corporation’s LNG plant is China’s biggest LNG plant on the land with the most state-of-art LNG production technology and facilities, with an annual production volume of 800 thousand tons.  As Mr. Ma Fuqiang, President of Hanas New Energy Corporation, expressed his forward-thinking opinion: “Hardware derives from the logistics system, hence the logistics solution is first to be considered and then is the vehicles.” Thus, the ability of the logistics solution was highly valued during the bidding of logistics equipment suppliers. Volvo Trucks won this bid because the company is not only a manufacturer producing cutting-edge trucks, but also a supplier offering Total Transport Solutions.  

Safety and high-quality equipment are of utmost importance to dangerous goods transport. In this regard, Volvo Trucks recommended Hanas LNG to choose FM400 6×4, which satisfies ADR and features Volvo Trucks’ advanced technology and manufacture crafts in safety in order to ensure a highly safe performance of the fleet of Hanas LNG. The combination of D13 engine that satisfies Euro IV emissions standards and I-shift automatic transmission allow this FM model to decrease fuel consumption by 3% and to reach a maximum torque of 2400 Nm, which means it offers higher productivity. Volvo Trucks replaced its clutch pedal by I-shift to simplify drivers’ operation and allow them to concentrate more so as to respond quickly to emergencies, and it will dramatically lower the risks of road accidents according to Volvo Trucks’ internal statistics. The FM400 6×4 casts away the synchronizer to effectively lower vehicles’ failure rate. As the analysis says, the failure rate of Volvo Trucks’ I-shift is lower by 80% than other trucks of similar models. At the same time, all Hanas Volvo trucks are equipped with GPS and a hydraulic pressure sensor, which sends hydraulic pressure figures back to the plant through GPS. Thus,    the safety of drivers and vehicles is able to be monitored in real time, ensuring the successful delivery of the LNG to end-users.
