New ESP system first used in Volvo Trucks
Volvo Truck has become the first manufacturer to launch a more powerful ESP (Electronic Stability Program) system in the world 2008. The system can control one or more trailers and play a very good stability. Even more important is that it will increase transport safety factor of the dangerous goods such as fuel.
Electronic Stability Program is an active safety system that helps prevent crashes by reducing the danger of skidding. ESP system consists of a collection of information under the control of the computer. The information sources including ABS (Antilock Braking System) wheel sensors, steering system and a gyroscope. By detecting the movement of vehicles, the computer can make determine whether a vehicle will have to rollover or skid quickly, which the brake of truck or trailer can take effective measures to ensure the stability of the entire vehicle.
But ESP system is still a comparatively new term to major Chinese consumers. So the loading rate of this system in China is far lower than Europe and the United States. Experts said that Chinese local enterprise has didn't have the capacity to produce ESP. Only foreign investment or joint venture can sell the system, as a domestic brand vehicle company's owner said: "We are having been relatively cautious about the new technique acquisition." ESP is still a relatively new area currently, its nature and reliability continues to be a better understanding. In addition, we also need to consider the cost of the product and market positioning, it will not blindly for vehicles with ESP."
