MAN wants to form joint venture in China
Reporter learns from Germany Man Group that MAN has tried several times in finding business partners to form a joint venture in China but due to some disagreements they failed. At present, MAN’s major business in China concerns technology transfer and truck sales.
In recent years, heavy truck market develops quickly. Now, there are 500,000 trucks rolling on the road and 70% of them are Steyr products. Mr. Jiang Yizhou market director of MAN China said “In 1983, we started our cooperation with Sinotruk in the form of technology transfer which allowed Sinotruk to produce Steyr technology trucks. And now Man China has been formed however, due to lack of joint venture in China, Man has to expand in China truck market by truck export which leads to a very small market.” People from Germany Man China said MAN has tried several times in finding business partners to form a joint venture in China but due to some disagreements they failed. The target partners only interested in MAN technology and brand but did not want to meet MAN’s strict requirement on truck qualities which is unacceptable to MAN group.”Views:0
