Embarrassed by subprime mortgage crisis, growing oil prices, fierce competition in the market, America General Motor Corporation declared that production of six major factories that produce SUV and pickup trucks has been decreased.
Four factories of the six are in America, one factory in Canada and one in Mexico. Speaker of General Motor Corp. said “From Monday of this week, General Motor has cancelled the pre-concerted overtime production of the six factories but the number of the cut is unavailable.
Growing oil prices, the softening of the real estate market and other factors have discouraged the demand of large vehicles in America. Worsened by fierce promotion competition among auto manufacturers, SUV and pickup trucks sales volume of General Motor has decreased 9% in the first 7 months of this year.
The speaker said, General Motor is likely to change the production expectation on Sep.4 when they declare their monthly sales volume. General Motor planed to produce 1,075,000 vehicles in the third season of this year, of which there should have been 697,500 light vehicles.
